Looking
for an inexpensive, basic Palm device? The Palm Z22 may be perfect for you.
The Z22 is one f the smallest Palm's, weighing in at just 3.4 ounces and
measuring 4.06 inches tall and 2.7 inches wide. It's a great starter PDA
without all the complex features.
Features of the Z22 include:
- Calculator
- Handwriting recognition with the stylus
- Notepad for jotting down notes
- Touch-screen display with the stylus
- Calendar button for quick, direct access
- Infrared port to make sharing information quick with the IR beam
- 32MB memory, 20MB available to user
Some users favorites of the Z22 are the Find feature
(you type in a name or topic and it shows you everywhere it appears), color-coding
tasks and contact info (think red for kids, blue for work, green for your
spouse, yellow for friends, etc.) and easy game loading.
The disadvantages of the Z22 are:
- Not very expandable with 20MB beyond the
OS, no external memory available
- No case accessories available
- Smaller screen than newer PDAs
- Battery, while lasting a long time, is
not replaceable
- No paper manual included, must download
from website or CDs
- Text is small on the screen, can be hard
to read
- Audio is low quality compared to other
PDAs
- Small screen
In a nutshell, the Palm
Z22 is a great starter PDA. Techno-savvy users will likely find it too basic
but those who are just breaking into the new age of technology will probably
find it quite suitable.
