The
Hewlett-Packard iPAQ hx2490 is similar in style to other PDAs that HP put
out around the same time. So what makes the hx2490 special? Here's a quick
list of what you will get with this model.
A lower checkout total than the other models that came out at the same time:
- Bluetooth Compatibility
- WiFi with integrated Ethernet card
- Video playback
- Voice recording
- Windows Mobile 5 operating system, familiar to Windows PC users
- Speedy 520 MHz processor
- 64MB storage memory
- Docking cradle and carrying case are among the six peripherals included
- Rechargeable Lithium battery
- Included backup utility
- Handwriting recognition
- Presentations software
- Ability to run popular games without slowing down
- CompactFlash card and SD slot, in addition to MMC and SDIO card docks
for extra storage
But you will not get with the hx2490:
- Audio recording or playback
- MP3 player
- Calendar
- Control Pad, keyboard or keypad input
methods
- You won't get a
lot of software bundled with the gadget
The HP hx2490 has a pretty
reasonable price tag of about $280, but for just a few bucks more, around
$300, you could also get control pad input, audio, MP3 player and more.
The Windows Mobile 5 is a good operating system but can also cause unexpected
restarts. All in all, the hx2490 is a good model, a good deal but is neither
the best of the best nor the most basic PDA.
