Looking for big bang without spending big bucks on a PDA? If the Hewlett-Packard name and reputation are important or you want to stay within the Windows operating system with your handheld, don't make a purchase until you check out the iPAQ hx2410 first.

The hx2410 is filled with great components like:

  • Bluetooth Compatibility
  • Audio playback and integrated MP3 player
  • Standards like word processor, spreadsheet, calculator, calendar, note pad and scheduler
  • Video recording and playback
  • Microsoft Pocket PC 2003 operating system - great because it's well supported since it's been out a few years
  • Fast 520 MHz processor
  • Docking cradle and microphone included
  • Backlit display
  • Compatible with Compact Flash Type II and SDIO memory cards
  • 3.5 inch screen
  • Control pad input as well as stylus and touch screen
  • Included Ethernet card to allow WiFi access and wireless email
Of course, HP can't please everyone all the time. What you won't get with the hx2410 include:
  • Contacts or address book
  • An abundance of memory - 64MB might be fine for some users, but not if you are looking to store videos or a lot of beefy software
  • No SD or MMC memory card slots
  • Microsoft Pocket PC 2003 operating system - it's not the latest, greatest and some of the old bugs are still there, even after updates
This is a great PPC that packs a ton of features into a smallish (4.7 inches x 3 inches) handheld unit. It's a good deal for the $300 or so you'll spend.
