Hewlett-Packard
has long been known to turn out quality PC products. Now that the PDA market
has blossomed, HP has taken a fair share of that market as well. With the
iPAQ hx2190, there are a few great features but this PPC isn't a great money
investment.
Features include:
- Bluetooth Compatibility
- Basics like calculator, note pad, task manager, calendar, contacts
list
- Presentation capability
- Video playing
- Voice recording
- Web browser
- Windows Mobile 5 operating system
- External memory compatibility for compact flash type 2, MMC, SDIO
card, and SD slot
- Many software options
o Voice navigation
o Great variety of games
- Good audio
- Great colors (16-bit)
- Clear screen text
- 64MB internal memory
Unfortunately, there are quite a few more drawbacks
to the hx2190:
- Unstable operating system (Windows Mobile
5)
- Battery has short life and is not replaceable
- Price tag is higher than similar models
with more memory and better functionality
- User interface is very shoddy, difficult
to navigate
- Long delay in closing
programs
- Long delay in changing
programs or even views within the same program
- As heavy or heavier
than more sophisticated models by both HP and Palm
While the hx2190 has a good
name behind it, the PPC doesn't hold up to the Hewlett-Packard name. Before
you decide to spend your money on this model, make sure you check out the
other HP models and similar Palm models. You may find a model with similar
features without such a heavy price tag.
