Although it contains an Intel Mobile Pentium 4 processor with a respectable speed of 3.06 GHz, the IBM ThinkPad G41 is still greatly slowed down by other factors. Probably one of the most notable is the mere 256 MB of memory, which hardly qualifies it as a respectable desktop replacement.

Even the storage space made available here is hardly adequate for the market it targets. The IBM ThinkPad G41 comes standard with 40 GB of hard drive.

Unfortunately this laptop is also built on an old shell that limits it to 15 inches LCD screen. This is a huge disadvantage because most desktop replacement systems these days feature impressive wide-screen displays.

The access this laptop has to external storage somehow makes up for a few of its many shortcomings and provides some options for users. This is mainly made possible by the four USB 2.0 ports the system boasts of.

Still the popular verdict is that the IBM ThinkPad G41 is way behind when it comes to addressing the needs of the market it attempts to attract. The new management at IBM needs to consider nothing less than an overhaul here.
