Fujitsu LifeBook C2300
Notebook Reviews > Fujitsu LifeBook > C2300

Should we call it a Thin & Light notebook or a Desktop Replacement? It doesn't really matter as this may not be the best choice for your next buy.

Though Fujitsu has bundled some nice features in this power packed machine that boasts of a 1.8GHz Pentium M Processor with a visually pleasing 15" Crystal View display. But there are many shortcomings that keep it away from making it to the list of notebooks you can always keep eyeing on.

To start off, the battery lasts only about two hours. Even an additional one will only give you another 2.5 hours of working time. This does sound like a jet fighter game where your fuel tank has been badly damaged. Secondly, the unnecessary floppy drive only adds to the weight of the notebook and adds no value.

Other than these major disappointments and the fact that casing is needlessly heavy too, C2300 offers all what you can expect in a traditional notebook.

Good processing speed coupled with the ability to install RAM up to 1.25GB with one user-accessible slot. We did mention the 15" TFT display with a native resolution of 1024x768 pixels. The notebook utilizes an Intel 855GM video graphics chip which is good enough for watching movies or giving presentations. The graphics card doesn't have its dedicated memory and can claim up to 64MB of your system memory but on the good side it doesn't consume much of power too.

Your choice of model will decide if you get a 80GB hard disk or a 100GB one. Optical drives also come in a number of options varying from simple DVD/CD-RW combo drives to Dual Layer DVD writers.

The back and right panels offer the traditional ports and interfaces you require to make the most out of it. 3 USB ports lie at the back while one resides on the right panel. Nothing is missing, with a dedicated slot for SD Card/Memory Stick in action too.

It also has an Anti-Theft Lock Slot but if the bugger is well informed, he better be aiming for some other model.
