Dell Latitude D620

Review Specifications Compare Prices

The Dell latitude notebooks have always been a favorite among business users and the D620 is the latest update to the mid-range of latitude notebooks replacing the older latitude D610.

Dell has covered the exterior of the D620 with a magnesium alloy increasing its solidness and durability. The hard disk is also shock-mounted for added safety.

As with the current trend the latitude D620 offers a wide screen display (at 14.1") giving the user amble screen space for viewing more than one document/webpage at a time. The display itself is clear, crisp and quite bright.

The keyboard offers full-sized keys and is comfortable to use. The D620 also offers two options for controlling the on screen pointer, you get the usual touch-pad with its set of mouse buttons and you also get a pointing stick with its own set of mouse buttons.

As a notebook geared towards the business environment graphics performance was not a priority with Dell only offering the integrated Intel GMA chip with the latitude D620, this chip however is more than sufficient to handle the business users' everyday needs. For those who still need more powerful graphics, Dell does offer an NVIDIA Quadro based chip as an upgrade option.

Security-wise the latitude D620 does not disappoint, with such features as the finger-print reader, the integrated smartcard reader and the built-in Trusted Platform Module (TPM 1.2).

Wireless connectivity is another area where the D620 shines, with the integrated 3G module built into it along with the standard 802.11a/g Wi-Fi (with Dell's WiFi-Catcher) connectivity should not be an issue here. In addition you also get Bluetooth and infrared.

The latitude D620 features impressive specifications such as Intel's Core Due T2500 processor (running at 2.0 GHz), and a generous 1GB of DDR2 RAM.

At 5.4 pounds and with a thickness of 1.2 inches, the D620 falls under the thin-and-portable category of notebooks. The battery life was impressive managing to last just over 5 hours.

Overall, offering a well-balanced mix of performance, portability and battery life, the latitude D620 is sure to please the performance conscious business traveler.
