Review Specifications Compare Prices

Inspiron 9300 notebook is a total pack of features suitable for the gamers, people working in office and people doing their work at home. It is a desktop replacement model that you would love to have wherever you can. As an advanced form of Inspiron 9200, this version gives much more reliability, is more productive in games, and also has some refined features like Microsoft XP Media Centre 2005, an optional TV tuner, additional USB ports etc. Still expensive but won't cost an arm and leg like the XPS Gen 2 notebook.

Inspiron 9300 Advanced is an 8.2 pounds unit, which has a fusion of aluminum alloy cover and black flat base with a silver lining in between. It is not easy to travel with the machine as it is heavy. The screen is 17" wide having a sharp and bright display. The resolution being a WUXGA 1,900 - 1,200, gives remarkable look to the view. The drawback of this screen is that it gives light stars when you have a white background on the desktop.

Coming down from the screen, you get to a nice keyboard having all buttons in one place. You will not find the number pad separate in the keyboard but that's the norm these days. The arrow buttons are on the bottom-right of the keyboard. Then there is a big area for controlling the scroll bars. This scrolling region has arrows on it showing the directions to move while you scroll through the files, documents or websites.

Inspiron 9300 Advanced comes with the latest and better specifications than many of its rival models. They are:

  • Intel Pentium M740 1.73GHz
  • 1GB Dual Channel DDR2 Memory
  • 60GB 4,200rpm Hard drive
  • 8X DVD+/- RW DL Burner
  • Windows XP Home Edition

This unique machine has good warranty options when purchased. The DDR2 Memory is fast in speed and you get a 9-Cell battery extra.

Moving to the sides of the notebook, Inspiron 9300 has slim and silver sides. There are a couple of speakers near the corners of the front edge which are excellent in volume and produce a rich sound for the ears. Much better than many other laptops that simply fail in producing sharp sounds. The speakers have seven buttons in total, lying in the front silver seam. You can eject, play, forward, rewind, set volume and mute. Apart from the speakers and as mentioned above, there is an optional TV tuner; alas, so heavy that we suggest you do not carry it on the road.

The Inspiron 9300 has FireWire, S-Video-out, VGA, and six USB 2.0 ports on the back. Also you will find 56Kbps modem, Ethernet, headphone, and microphone jacks. There is a Type II OC card and secure digital slots. If you want to connect the notebook with a bigger LCD display, there is a DVI port as well. It has a fixed DVD drive which is double-layered and cannot be taken out.

Inspiron 9300 lets you enjoy new games like Half-Life 2. The graphics excel in producing better media effects for the DVD viewers. You will enjoy watching movie on the screen of this notebook. The Nvidia GeForce Go 6800 graphics chip has sufficient space of 256MB of dedicated Video RAM that gives a blazing addition to the notebook.
