Don't
let the price tag fool you, the Dell Inspiron 6400 is a solid option for
a casual home user or an on-the-go businessman. Although it weighs a mere
six pounds, the 6400 features a 15.4" wide screen display. Graphics
display smoothly thanks to the integrated Intel media accelerator and
ATI Mobility Radeon X1300 with 128 MB of HyperMemory.
The laptop is powered by an Intel Core Duo processor. The Duo is specifically
designed to provide laptops with the best performance, while consuming
the least amount of power. The 6400 runs Windows XP, which is currently
the operating system available. It is also bundled with useful software
such as WordPerfect, Dell Jukebox, and Adobe Acrobat Reader.
With 512 MB of shared DDR2 SDRAM, the Inspiron 6400 can run several programs
at once with ease. A 60 GB hard drive allows plenty of storage room for
files, music, and pictures. Uploading these pictures to the 6400 is no
problem. There are several options for connecting peripherals, including
a Firewire 1394 port and four USB 2.0 ports. A Flash memory slot also
eliminates the need to use a cable with many compatible devices.
For users on the go, the 6400 boasts a solid five hours of battery life
after a single full charge. The 6400 has a CD-RW and DVD combo drive.
This drive can be used to watch a DVD movie or burn a custom mix CD. Finally,
the 6400 can connect to the Internet through a built-in Ethernet port,
or its Dell 1390 802.11g wireless card.
Overall, the Dell Inspiron 6400 offers a stylish and functional choice
for the budget minded laptop user.
